Group 1001
1,500 Users. One Administrator. Zero Manual Audits.

Group 1001 is a growing insurance company headquartered in Zionsville, Indiana, with approximately 1,500 employees. The company operates with a single T&E administrator, Stephanie Richards, responsible for managing expense reporting across all 1,500 Concur users.
Before expanding its use of the SAP Concur platform, Group 1001's 100% manual audit policy required Stephanie to personally review every expense report, every receipt, and every line item submitted across the organization. That workload consumed 40 to 50 hours per week, leaving no capacity for strategic finance work.
Stephanie identified Verify, SAP Concur's AI-powered audit tool, as the solution. She championed the purchase internally, implemented it during a customer event for added support, and saw measurable impact within two days. Verify automates compliance checks - flagging date discrepancies, dollar amount errors, illegible receipts, AI-generated fraudulent receipts, and policy violations - and routes only exceptions to the administrator for manual review. The tool also produces a behavioral effect: employees who receive an audit notification self-correct future submissions knowing the system is monitoring.
Group 1001 also implemented Intelligence reporting, which replaced budget guesswork with data-driven forecasting. Stephanie now generates monthly spend reports by cost center, top-spender analyses, and marketing and PR travel breakdowns with a single click, with automated scheduling planned to eliminate even that step.
ExpenseIt supports the company's mobile-first field sales team, automating receipt itemization and enabling expense submission from any device. Joule is next on the roadmap, with planned use for on-demand policy lookup by employees in the field.
The platform is also supporting Group 1001's rapid growth through acquisitions and international expansion, with a full T&E policy overhaul underway to match the company's current scale and complexity.
"If Concur disappeared tomorrow, that would be a disaster. Everything would go back to manual processes, maybe Excel. The time it would take to process expense reports through AP - you would need more employees to cover that. It would take longer. People would be upset."
