Six GBTA Speakers We Wouldn’t Want to Miss

It’s that time of year again! The smell of conference guides is in the air, and the Concur Social Media team is excited to report on this year’s GBTA conference. There are a few special sessions and speakers that we’re dying to see. We’ll be on the lookout for their Tweetable moments, photo opportunities, and ways this year’s speakers bring the theme “Business in Motion” to life. Here are my top picks for this year’s GBTA lineup:

Steve Singh
Chief Executive Officer of Concur
Tuesday, July 29, 2014; 12:30pm - 1:00pm

Steve’s keynote on Tuesday will be one for the books. Be there for announcements, thought leading discussion of the future of business travel, and rich perspectives from across the business travel industry.

Cindy Allen
Vice President, TMC Services Concur
Monday, July 28, 2014; 12:30pm - 1:00pm

Concur’s VP of TMC Services will speak alongside other executive leaders and share her views on the challenges that the travel distribution landscape faces today. I’m looking forward to hearing about Cindy’s passion for customer service, partnership building, and innovative thinking that has forged her path to leadership in this exciting and dynamic industry.

Kevin Spacey
Academy Award Winning Actor and Director
Monday, July 28, 2011; 1:30pm - 2:30pm

Kevin Spacey. Need I say more? Of course I do. The “House of Cards” star is not only an accomplished artist and philanthropist, he also happens to be a pretty serious business traveler. I’m looking forward to hearing Spacey’s perspective on film, his recent world tour with Sam Mendes on the production of "Richard III", and his lifelong efforts to promote the value and integrity of the arts.

Biz Stone
Co-founder and Co-inventor of Twitter
Tuesday, July 29, 2014; 1:30pm - 2:30pm

As a social media manager I can’t tell you how excited I am that Biz will be addressing the business travel community. I’m hoping he will cover Twitter’s role in travel and topics from his new book, Things a Little Bird Told Me: Confessions of the Creative Mind, about the power of creativity and how to harness it.

Bill Glenn
President and Chief Executive Officer American Express Global Business Travel
Monday, July 28, 2014; 7:30am - 8:00am

Bill Glenn, who was recently appointed President and CEO of GBT, makes his first address to GBTA as its chief executive. Back in April during an interview with The Beat’s David Jonas, Glenn alluded to many possibilities in technology, infrastructure and more. I hope Glenn sheds some light on that conversation and gives us more detail about exciting announcements Amex has released since the interview.

Jeffery Smisek
Chairman of the Board, President and Chief Executive Officer United Airlines
Monday, July 28, 2014; 8:00am - 8:30am

Hot off the heels of Concur’s recent United Airlines partnership announcement, Jeff Smisek will take the stage in LA and hopefully discuss the many ways that United is making business travel better for everyone.

Throughout the week the Concur social media team will be thrilled to cover the event and discuss your favorite topics at the event. We’re hoping to hear all of your perspectives of what makes the #PerfectTrip and hope you will join us on Twitter as we keep the conversation (and the selfies) rolling.
