If you travel, then IFTTT from Concur Labs can help

Here at Concur Labs , we are continually exploring cutting-edge trends, which is why we recently released a new Concur IFTTT channel for you to try out: ifttt.com/concur. IFTTT (If This Then That) is a service that allows for very easy integrations between your favorite services and products from different companies. Imagine your Nest thermostat automatically turning up the heat an hour before you return from your business trip. This is just one example. As the number of companies that use IFTTT grows (currently in the hundreds), the number of possible product combinations grows, but at an exponential rate—making the service extremely powerful.

What Can You Do with Concur’s IFTTT Channel?

If you use Concur to book travel, you can sign up for IFTTT and combine services you need without writing a line of code. For instance, you can set up notifications to alert your partner when your flight lands or turn off the lights in your house when you’re away on business. The service can also handle scenarios such as taking Square receipts in your Office 365 account and uploading them to Concur for easy expensing. This is just the beginning.

Any product or service with an IFTTT channel can also create integration scenarios with Concur. If you have an IFTTT channel, creating a recipe is straight-forward. If your company doesn’t have a channel, it’s easy to create one. The development process takes around a month on average, depending on complexity, and involves creating an API endpoint for each of your channel’s “triggers” (think events that your service is designed to track) and “actions” (any action you’d like to enable your channel users to do).

Our channel was built using the Node.js environment and Express framework hosted on an Amazon Web Services EC2 instance. Using Amazon Lambda would be another good option to simplify maintenance.
