Tell us about you in 100 words or less:
My roots are in India – my parents are from Kerala however I was born and raised in Germany near the Swiss/French border. I speak German, Malayalam and English. I am blessed being part of two cultures with the influence of the border crossing countries so I am kind of a hot chili with lots of flavours, even though my last name translation is hard tree trunk. I live with my wife and my 4 month old son, whom I use as an excuse to buy all kinds of toy planes and flying helicopters. At Concur I belong to the EMEA Premium Expense implementation team. As a Senior IPM my core speciality is in functional consultancy and sophisticated design expertise for strategic enterprise clients, such as BAYER and NOKIA.
If you could learn one random skill, what would you learn?
How to play better classical piano.
What inspires you to be who you are?
My inspiration comes from the people I work and live with as well as Richard Branson and authors like Scott Berkun. My manager Manoj Trivedi gives me a great work experience. I want to become a similar type manager somewhere in the future. I am thrilled by the values that is embraced by the people I am surrounded.
What’s your secret superpower?
Looking at a commercial airplane even in distance visibility I am able to tell the airline and the exact aircraft manufacturer and aircraft type with lots of details about the airline itself.
What personal accomplishment are you most proud of?
Wow, proud is a really strong word however I like my integrity going the difficult path always looking for the right thing to do. I have passed quite a number of instances in life where I went the “not easy” path but it is worth doing it if you believe in doing the right thing. This starts from obvious things like education (graduation at university via evening classes) and ends with ultra-important things like finding your loved one that you want to spent the rest of your life. It means overcoming external constraints from society and doing what makes you happy.
Tell us how your career journey landed you here at Concur?
I started as a travel consultant while attending a business college. Then in the year 2000 while doing my graduation at university in business and software engineering I started working at an German software company in the areas of software analysis and support, consulting, product management and software implementation projects till after 12 years of doing travel software I decided to learn more about expense and implementing expense software. This is when the learning curve accelerated again to a high attitude.
