Consistency and Change

As the ideal kick-off to 2015, I had the pleasure last week of joining SAP CEO Bill McDermott and Concur President Elena Donio on stage to address Concur employees. We brought everyone together to celebrate successes of the past year and to talk about the opportunities ahead as part of SAP, including the role Concur will play in the business network. Through the business network, SAP enables companies to link a virtual network of partners into a shared community and execute key business processes — connecting companies to other companies in a streamlined model that drives massive efficiency and helps companies run simple. We exited the kick-off proud of our achievements and history, and energized about what’s ahead. Every person at Concur remains laser-focused on delivering the perfect experience for our customers. We remain committed to innovating and improving in everything we do, to developing great people, and to getting the most out of each other. We remain passionate about doing what we do best so that our customers can focus on what they do best – whether leading diabetes care, building a playoff contending team, or growing a $17 billion worldwide food business. Our customers should not be battling expense reports or complex travel bookings. That’s our job today and tomorrow.

The strength of our culture and mission has enabled Concur to thrive. It also has allowed us to embrace the opportunity and natural progress inherent in company changes, as we work toward our goals. Becoming part of SAP means greater opportunity to expand innovation, to collaborate with more people who share our values, and to serve more customers all over the world. I am truly energized by the possibilities.

No two people have done more to shape the culture of Concur than Raj Singh and Mike Hilton, my co-founders and partners for more than 20 years. They have instilled our company’s values in every employee by living them every day, making Concur a special place to work. Their leadership, friendship and collaboration have made a lasting imprint on the company and our customers and partners, and they will be missed dearly by me and everyone who has worked with them over the years. We are so grateful for their tireless leadership and wish them the very best in their future endeavors.

Raj and Mike’s leadership and legacy also have made it simple to pass the baton. As a natural progression, Elena Donio , formerly executive vice president of Concur’s worldwide small and mid-sized business, is leading the company as president. Elena personally led the creation of our SMB organization, taking it from an idea to a multi-national organization serving more than 10,000 customers. She has also played instrumental roles in marketing and product management for the company.

Barry Padgett, Executive Vice President, Product

Barry Padgett, executive vice president, product, is leading our innovation agenda. Previously executive vice president of traveler services, Barry has helped Concur succeed through product leadership, sales leadership, and by establishing the company’s foundation in Europe and Asia Pacific. Over the past few years, Barry has led teams that have delivered some of our most innovative and transformative solutions in TripIt and ExpenseIt.

As 17-year veterans of Concur, Elena and Barry will build on and extend the company’s strengths and success to date. We are very fortunate to have them.

So while it’s the beginning of a new chapter for Concur, what remains most important – our mission and what makes us Concur – are the same. We are excited to start the new year and to execute against our mission – to create a simpler, better world for our customersby delivering the perfect trip, the perfect expense report, and the perfect invoice.
