Concur for Outlook: expense from your inbox

Microsoft Office 365 is one of the most popular and fastest-growing productivity apps. While Concur provides travel and expense management solutions to 34,000 customers across the globe. Now we’re bringing Concur right to your Outlook Inbox so you can manage expenses with ease. Integrating cloud-based services like Office 365 and Microsoft is part of the new partnership announced by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and SAP CEO Bill McDermott at SAPPHIRE NOW in May 2016.

Concur Labs, which builds new prototypes and interfaces, collaborated with Microsoft to develop a beta that integrates Outlook with Concur Expense. The beta is available in the U.S. and Canada. We’re shipping as a test service through Concur Labs with an intent to learn, so send us your feedback. Here’s how you get started:

Step 1: Get “Concur Expense” from the Microsoft Office store

Do you have hotel, flight or other business receipts piling up in your Inbox? With “Concur Expense” for Outlook, you can process receipts right from your mailbox. Visit the Microsoft Office Store to download the free “Concur Expense” add-in. It’s fast and you only need to login to Concur once to link your accounts.

Step 2: Click to submit expenses

Step 3: Enjoy more time

Clear your Inbox so you can spend more time on what matters most.

Behind the scenes: How machine learning and data science work for you

Yes, the new “Concur Expense” add-in works in a snap. But what’s behind the scenes is more complex and fascinating. Every time you click on the Concur add-in, we employ a series of machine learning algorithms (developed by the Concur Data Science team) to essentially “read” your receipt text—amount, currency and vendor—and pre-populate your expense item accordingly.

We’re using data science and APIs to give you a beta experience that’s intended to be simple and useful. Give it a try and tell us what you think.
