At High 5 Adventure Learning Center in Brattleboro, Vermont, Shelly Dennis is used to living on the cutting edge. The nonprofit educational organization uses creative experiential education and adventure learning to achieve positive change in clients of all ages.
That’s why the center’s antiquated expense reporting procedure was so frustrating. “Our system had been a very manual, clunky process done on paper, and then keyed into our financial system,” Shelly says. “It was very time-consuming for everyone involved.”
Trainers and builders were wasting time dealing with arduous paperwork. Instead, they could have been enhancing High 5’s signature experiences that develop a sense of connection and community in learning environments filled with discovery, challenge and fun. Which would you rather take on?!
Concur Breeze streamlined the entire expense reporting procedure. The result: complete, accurate reports that are finished faster, allowing more time for productive - and exciting - work. Shelly says the mobile application has been invaluable. “Most of our business is conducted on the road,” she says. “Because the staff now have access to the mobile app, it makes expense reporting easy and no longer a headache.”That gives the staff more time to nurture their key partnerships with school and community-based clients.
In her own spare time, Shelly is “very family-focused.” She says she enjoys spending time with her kids outside, hiking, kayaking and gardening. The family’s giant chocolate lab, Henry, keeps them all busy, too!
Shelly is currently reading about the life of one of the world’s greatest innovators, Steve Jobs. And for a little escape, she also has on her nightstand the late Stieg Larsson’s action-packed mystery “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” the first of the Millennium Trilogy.
High 5 Adventure Learning Center is proud of its programs that give participants effective tools for improving the way they live, learn and work together. “Our goal,” Shelly says, “is to use adventure education to help develop good judgment, confidence, self-esteem, critical thinking, problem-solving and communication.” With Concur Breeze’s more efficient expense-reporting process, Shelly and her team can dedicate even more time to these important pursuits and further their world-famous brand.
