The Shortest Day of the Year Can Seem Like the Longest

The solstice has special significance, we’ve long known that. It’s not just the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, it’s also a time of celebration throughout the world.

But now the solstice has another claim to fame. We discovered something that sheds a whole new light (ahem) on December 21st. Based on data compiled from people using our products, we learned that more expense claims are submitted on December 21st than during any other time of the year. In fact, they’re up 132% on this day alone. We’ve dubbed it the Busiest Expense Day of the year.

You might already be experiencing this yourself first-hand either from submitting your own expense reports or processing multitudes of them. For those of you deep in the trenches, you don’t need us to tell you that’s it’s the busiest expense day of the year. You’re living it, right now.

To help you get through the day, we compiled some tips to make the experience a little more bright:

  • For every expense report either submitted or processed, play one level of Angry Birds.
  • Take a quick break outside to either throw snowballs, build snowmen, or take deep breaths of fresh air. A little physical activity will do your body some good and keep it from becoming chair-shaped.
  • After finishing a batch of reports, visit Awkward Family Photos to put a smile on your face. You might even recognize a coworker or two.

No matter where you are and how far along you are in submitting or processing reports, here’s to you. Here’s to your hard work, your late nights, and your commitment to your coworkers and your company on the busiest expense day of the year.
