It was a winning day at The Perfect Trip DevCon 2014 in San Francisco last week. The Giants won the World Series and the next morning Concur CEO Steve Singh invited a room full of developers and entrepreneurs to think about how they can make their corner of the world work. And two new apps, Paradine and LoungeBuddy, won $100K in funding awards from The Perfect Trip Fund.
Steve Singh shared the story of how Concur got its start, and explained: “We’re committed to enabling integrations that deliver amazing experiences.” Airbnb, Uber, Starwood, United, IHG and more are already part of the Concur Platform offering. Jigish Avalani followed with a keynote on “Making The Perfect Trip Real.” Matt Wyndowe, Uber Head of Product Partnerships, discussed their vision for the ideal taxi experience, including an integration with Concur, and showed other on-demand services they’ve tested, like on-demand ice-cream and on-demand kittens. Demos of mobile tools for app discovery and integrations with Evernote and Uber showed how users can save significant time and effort on travel and expenses. Want to expense mileage from your car? We previewed a demo of submitting expenses to Concur from your car; this will also be shown later this month at the LA Auto Show.
Customers & Partners Share Best Practices
Customers including AT&T, University of San Francisco and VisionMobile explained what innovations they’d like to see developed to solve travel pain points. Concur VP Jigish Avalani facilitated the conversation.
An afternoon panel featuring Marc McCabe of Airbnb, Dan Bomze of MileIQ, Jason Karas of Trover and Bzur Huan from Visage revealed best practices for building a startup and bringing an app to market. Jessica Pankov, Director of Platform Partner Marketing at Concur, facilitated.
