One of our business travelers had to be in L.A. for a couple of weeks. He was recovering from a minor sports-related knee injury. He needed to continue his physical therapy while he was out there – running on a treadmill. The hotel had a gym, but he decided it was “too far away” from his room. He asked the hotel to install a treadmill in his room for the duration of his trip. When he checked out, he was startled to find that they charged him $250 a day for the treadmill. When he returned, he was pretty chagrined about the expense, but extremely defensive when we rejected it. I think he learned a lesson.

As a business traveler, one would expect to be charged for everything that is not on the hotel "menu of amenities". I'm surprised he didn't know this!
