I was the “new guy” on a business trip to L.A. with some colleagues. We were staying in a hotel that is known for its rock star clientele. I wasn’t feeling too good, so I turned in early. I was awakened by the phone ringing. It was the front desk. “I’m so sorry Mr. C ---, but we need to switch you to another room. You see, Mick Jagger has checked in, and he has requested your room.” I squinted at the clock – 1:36 AM. “OK,” I said, groggy on cold medicine. I got up and packed up my stuff as quickly as I could. I went down to the front desk. The woman there looked puzzled when I asked which room I was moving to. “But, Mick Jagger…” I said. She tried not to giggle as she shook her head. I realized what had happened. I was the new guy after all. My colleagues laughed about it all the next day.
