I'd been traveling for many years and decided to upgrade my rental car to a Mustang to treat myself while in sunny Atlanta. Having a convertible was awesome and my coworkers enjoyed it too. One coworker, a newbie to the company, asked me if he could borrow it. I was hesitant, but wanted him to have some fun so I gave him a fatherly lecture and handed him the keys. The agreement was he'd only take it for a couple of hours to go to Walgreens and Target. He returned on time, but looked nervous when I saw him. He explained that while in the busy parking lot, he backed into the shopping cart station. Thankfully, no one got hurt, but there was $3,000 damage to the back of the
Mustang. He must have gunned it a little. I was annoyed, to say the least, mostly at myself for not going with him. Turns out the rental insurance did
cover it because I had been with them for so long. I don't think I'll be getting an upgrade for a while. My coworker did buy me a 6-pack of my favorite beer, which was nice, but didn't prevent me from giving him a new office nickname: Crash Jeff.
