Accidentally Saving a Life

Average: 3.1 (15 votes)

I had dozed off during a flight and I woke up to the sound of screaming. The man across the aisle was slumped over, and his wife was hysterical. He had suffered a heart attack. A crowd was forming, trying to help. A nurse started giving instructions and beginning a procedure. I tried to help her lift him, and as we did I yelled “HEY” really loud in the man’s face. The man opened his eyes. Everyone looked at me, awestruck that I had saved this man’s life, when all I did was yell loudly enough to startle him. I didn’t feel right accepting any praise, but I did accept a free glass of airplane wine from the man’s wife.
